Rebel Sworn: Chapter 4, Part 1, Imprisoned - A Star Wars Inspired Starforged Solo Campaign

Defeated and dejected, Keer wakes up to find himself in a more dangerous situation than he ever has before.

The situation has not improved for our hero at the start of Rebel Sworn Chapter 4, Imprisoned. What will he awaken from and what will he be forced to do to escape? Keer knows every second he waits is a second the Empire is closer to gaining access to a weapon that can take over the sector.

If this is the first chapter of Rebel Sworn you've read, be sure to check out the chapter list for the campaign.

Let's play.

Key location is made unsafe or becomes mired in conflict +1 Momentum, now 6

Verse Typho hides behind a wall, with a blaster clutched to her chest. An explosion rocks the building next to her and debris showers her and the Grammarian huddled next to her. Normally she’d complain about the smell but not today. Those Imps just couldn’t leave things be. Boz City is used to having different masters. The Hutts, The Republic, The Separatists, and The Empire, it's all the same to the people of the Canyon. But these Imps just couldn’t control themselves, always picking fights with The Union.

Well, they shouldn’t have been surprised with they picked a fight with a Grammarian and a squad of Mud Troopers got put into the Med Clinic. Now they are conducting what the holos say is a ‘Control and Order Operation’ which to Verse looks a lot like an old-school razing of the Boz City slums. Well, Verse will be farkled before she lets the Imps burn down her town. You just can’t keep pushing people.

Verse pops up to return fire and wishes Keer was there to lend a hand and some explosives.

The story continues...

Light, a weak light. My head, oh does it kill! And cold, I’m so very cold. I’m starting to wake, my head splitting, feeling like it will burst out of my skull. I reach for my face but find my arms stuck. No not stuck, bound. My memory starts to come back. The Wookie! I remember the Wookie and the rifle butt slamming into my head. Alright, that explains being tied up, but where am I, and most importantly how do I escape?

Let’s roll of Descriptor - Focus to find this out. Duty Lair. Hmmmm… Duty I associate with the military and therefore the Imperial Forces. Lair sounds like a dungeon or a jail. To me, this seems like Keer is being held in an Imperial cell! That isn’t good.

My eyes are starting to focus a bit better now, and things are starting to come into view. I can barely make out shapes and the first thing I see is an Imperial banner. Kark! I’m in an Imperial holding facility. Kark! Kark! But why am I still alive? I figured I’d have been shot on spot. I guess they don’t know who I am or they are trying to figure out what to do with me.

That Wookie bounty hunter must have a contract with the Imps. If I see that walking carpet again I’m going to blow him into lint balls. Alright, time to try to get out of these binding at least.

Is the binding made from metal? The Imps know he is dangerous so they probably would put him in metal bindings. I’ll roll a D100 and anything over a 25 and they are metal. 51, metal.

I struggle against the bindings but they are clearly metal. The Empire’s engineering is perfect when it comes to imprisoning people. I look around the cell, maybe I can find something or use or find a way to get out.

Gather Information +3 with Wits

Challenge 1,5 Vs Action 2+3=5, Weak hit

+1 Momentum, now 7. Keer finds information to help but also complications

What is the complication? Action Theme table Eliminate Vengeance! That is a dramatic oracle! I think I know what this means.

Nothing in the cell of note but droppings from some animal, and a metal bench bolted to the wall. I stumble over to the cell door, I’m still a bit unsteady on my feet but I clutch the bars and peer through. I see a wall with a notice pinned on it. I can barely read it -

Imperial Security Bearu Notice #4894 T-39

Execution Order for one Sskeer, rebel Terrorist. For the crimes of Murder of Imperial soldiers, destruction of Imperial property, and stealing of Imperial Military Intelligence.

Execution to be carried out at 1200 Standard time

Signed ISB Senior Agent Cen Haren

Well, Kark. There is a clock on the wall. It reads 1000. I have a couple of hours before they will come for me. I better get ready. I look at the metal bench, if I can wrench it off the wall I could use it as a shield when the Imps come for me. Yes, I just need to pull it off somehow. I bend over to see if I can get it moving a bit.

Secure an Advantage +2 with Iron

Challenge 4,9 Vs Action 4+2=6, Weak hit

+1 on the next move

Reach Milestone - Free Zhar from the Pikes

Mark Progress = 2 Boxes (out of 10)

I yank on the bench will all my strength and just when I think it won’t budge I fear the delicious sound of metal giving way. I wrench it back and forth and the bolts connecting the bench to the wall come loose. Ha! The Imps didn’t check that, did they? My hands are still bound but at least I have something to fight back with now. I take a quick peek at the clock and see it is getting close to 1200. They will be coming soon. I place the bench back to make it look like nothing is amiss and wait. The Imps are always punctual.

Not the first time Keer has been in an Imperial cell. Hopefully the last. Made by me using Nightcafe.

As I sit and wait, I hear distant sounds of explosions and what may be blaster fire. What is going on out there in Boz City?

I hear footsteps coming down the hallway. I step back to the bench and grip it, I wait for them to open the door. I see them approach the cell door and it starts to slide open. This is my chance! I lift the bench and charge!

Enter the Fray +2 with Iron, +1 from the previous move

Troublesome Encounter - Escape from Imperial Guards

Challenge 2,8 Vs Action 1+3=4, Weak Hit

I am in control

The two Imps guards are shocked and confused when I charge forward with the bench. They freeze and fail to react in time. I lift the metal bench with the aim of ending this quickly.

Strike +2 with Iron

Challenge 3,10 Vs Action 6+2=8, Weak Hit

2 Progress = 6 boxes of progress. In a bad spot

I bring the bench down on the head of one guard, he goes down like a sack of meiloorun. I turn to the other guard who is fumbling for his shock baton. She isn’t quick enough and I swing the bench at her. The human goes flying when I smash her with the bench.

I turn to look around in the hallway and see another guard standing about 10 paces away. This guard has a blaster out and points it at me. I put the bench between me and the blaster.

React Under Fire +2 with Iron

Challenge 1,1 Vs Action 6+2=8, Strong hit with a Match

+1 momentum, now 9, I am in control

Finally a good combat roll! OK a match, I’ll his guard says something that gives a clue to Keer.

The blaster bolts smack into the bench but thankfully the metal holds up. The guard keeps fire and yells “Stop there Lizard or I’ll kill the Twi'lek also!”

A Twi'lek? Do they have Zhar in this hole also? Did the Pykes sell us both to the empire? I wouldn’t put it past them.

Anger fills me. This Imp guard needs to be put down now!

Strike +2 with Iron

Challenge 6,2 Vs Action 5+2=7, Strong hit

2 Progress = 10 boxes of progress (max)

I move forward like a mudhorn on the hunt. The Imp keeps firing but his shots go wild, he is clearly panicking. I make contact with the bench and push straight through him. He goes flying and smashes his head on the floor. He groans but doesn’t get up or reach for his blaster. Now I only need to find keys to my bindings.

Take Decisive Action - 10 Boxes of Progress

Action 9,8 Vs 10 Progress, Strong Hit

+1 Momentum, now 10. Victory and Combat over.

I reach into the guard's pocket and find some keys. I quickly unlock my bindings and grab his blaster. Silly Imps, next time you’ll send more than three poorly trained Imps prison guards to take me to my death!

Reach Milestone - Free Zhar from the Pikes

Mark Progress = 4 Boxes (out of 10)

That Imp guard mentioned a Twi’lek. It must be Zhar. I look around for a registrar of prisoners. I don’t have long. The Imps will figure out I’m not coming to be executed soon enough.

Gather Information +3 with Wits

Challenge 1,6 Vs Action 5+3=8, Strong Hit, Momentum Max

Reach Milestone - Free Zhar from the Pikes

Mark Progress = 6 Boxes (out of 10)

The Imp guard at my feet moans in pain and I give him a swift kick for his troubles. Execute me! Ha, Good luck ever killing Nova. But I see in his pocket a datapad. I pull it out and what do you know? A list of prisoners. I quickly scan it from Zhar and find them! Cell C-23-5B in Block C. I look around and notice I’m in Block B. OK, I just need to get to Block C, free Zhar and get the hell out. Easy.

The sounds of explosion and fighting are louder now. What the hell is going on in Boz City? Are the Imps burning it down? Nothing I can do about it now, I need to get Zhar out and get the hell out of this compound.

I rush to the exit and peek out the door. Mud Troopers are dashing around everywhere, like womp rats with their heads cut off. Looks like they’ve forgotten about the planned execution, good. With them distracted, I hope I can sneak past them.

Face Danger +2 with Shadow

Challenge 1,10 Vs Action 4+2=6, Weak Hit

-2 Momentum, now 8

Reach Milestone - Free Zhar from the Pikes

Mark Progress = 8 Boxes (out of 10)

Ah! These damn troopers have stopped outside the door and are preparing for battle. I can’t make a move until they start to deploy. I wait nervously for longer than I’d hoped for. Time is ticking and eventually, they will remember me.

They move on and I’m able to sneak out and stroll to Block C. I throw open the door with my stolen Imp blaster in hand and find nobody standing guard. I yell “Zhar! Zhar are you here? It’s Keer! I’ve come to bust you out. Tell me where you are.”

Fulfill Your Vow

Challenge 8,9 Vs Progress of 8, Miss

Recommit to the Quest, Roll 2 D10 and remove boxes equal to the lowest dice.

A 3,2. Remove 2 boxes, now 6. Now a Formidable Quest.

I hear no response back but the general yelling from the housed prisoners. I approach the cell Zhar was supposed to be in and its empty. My heart sinks. I wasn’t quick enough. Where-ever they are, I must find them!

  1. Whoa awesome!!! I’m glad Keer’s not dead, but seems like he still has a ways to go to get out of the imperial prison. Can’t wait to see the next update!
