 Reviews, Previews, Reflections, and Interviews

Here I will post reflections on campaigns I've run and also reviews of different RPGs and RPG products I may try out.

Reviews

Dungeon Hero - An easy-to-learn Solo RPG zine where you can go on three volumes of different adventures with your custom-made characters.

Stoneburner - play a Dwarf as you trudge your way through asteroids and tunnels, and hopefully to the riches they hold.

Golem - Stories of a Person Twisted By Magic - Travel through a bleak world that has moved on and forgotten the modern world in Golem, a solo RPG by N. Robinson of Bardic Inquiry.

The One Ring 2E with Strider Mode - This is a reflection on my mini-campaign as well as some thoughts on the overall game and the solo rules supplement.

Agon and One Page Solo Engine - A great experience for any solo player.

Grimoire: A Solo Journaling RPG of Immense Power - Create a magical book of immense power but be careful to succumb to the darkness.

Long Haul 1983 - Drive cross country to be with a person you love in this solo journaling game.

Ironsworn: Starforged - A create your own universe of epic stories, great adventures and memorable NPCs among the stars.

Nomadic - Explore. Document. Survive. In this easy to pick up and play Sci-fi RPG with unexpected depth.

Mork Borg with Solitary Defilement - Fight, survive, and try to avoid the inevitable apocalypse all by yourself with Mork Borg using Solitary Defilement solo rules.

Alone Against the Flames: A Call of Cthulhu solo adventure - A long bus ride. Nothing exciting, nothing out of the ordinary. Until the bus breaks down and you are deposited in an isolated town with a dark history…

Sworn by Ghostlight: Solve Gruesome Murders Solo -  A GMless or Solo RPG built on the Ironsworn system written by Matthew John. You create and play as an investigator in the semi-magical city of Mónaþstone.

My review policy: I don't do reviews of games I don't like, so if I've reviewed a game, you already know I like it. If you are a solo RPG creator, feel free to get in touch with me, I'd be happy to talk about reviewing your game.

Interviews

Have you listened to the excellent Solo RPG podcast Errant Adventures? Now in it's third season, Errant Adventures is an excellent Solo RPG podcast. Steve has kindly agreed to sit down with me and talk about his love for solo RPGs, how he got into RPGs, what he likes in a solo rpg, and tips for getting into the RPG podcasting. This is an interview you can't miss!

Today on the blog I have an excellent interview with S. Kaiya J of Mirror Lock. Maker of such great #solorpg such as You, Beyond the Pale, Untitled Moth Game, Her Odyssey, and more!

This week we are joined by René-Pier of Fari RPGs to talk about his love for RPGs, his solo RPG Nomadic, and his various activities in the RPG space. Grab a coffee and some snacks, because this is a great interview.

We are joined today by Jon, of the outstanding Tale of the Manticore podcast. If you haven’t listened to TotM, you need to get onto it right now. It is in my opinion, the best Actual Play podcast that exists.

I was lucky enough to interview SGH about his PTFO Stonetop Actual Play campaign. If you haven't checked it out, it's an amazing solo actual play that follows three adventurers in an iron-age, low magic setting. SGH puts out a compelling and meaty story nearly every week and it is excellent.

Check out the interview which talks about why he solos, the campaign, the tools he uses and his writing process.
