Rebel Sworn: Chapter 5, Part 1, Razed - A Star Wars Inspired Starforged Solo Campaign

Welcome back to Rebel Sworn! We are now on Episode II, The Flames of War.

It’s been about half a year since we were with Keer on the planet of Boz Pity, so here is a bit of a summary. Keer is a rebel working alone to accomplish missions on this backwater planet. Through a raid on an Imperial facility, he discovered information that a former Separatist Dreadnought was located on the planet of Boz Pity.

Knowing that neither the Imperials nor the Rebels have anything to match the firepower of a Dreadnought in this sector, Keer seeks out a friend named Zhar who can help get the Dreadnought working. Unfortunately, when Keer goes to the city where Zhar is, he finds out that Zhar has been captured by the Pykes and given to the Imperials.

Keer breaks Zhar out of an Imperial facility just as Boz City starts rioting against Imperial control. The last episode ended with the Imperials ordering Boz City to be bombed.

Now let’s play!

+1 Momentum (now 3) - Unforeseen aid is on the way or within reach.

Commander Blorn Done sits in front of his console as data streams across it. “Commander, we are seeing 4… No, 5 squadrons of Tie Bombers on a bombing run over Boz City. It seems as if the Imps have finally gotten fed up with the rioting and insurrection in the city.”

The commander rubs the stubble on his chin. He doesn’t have much in the sector, a wing of ARC-170, Republic-era star-fighters, and two, yes two, A-Wings. Still, he can’t sit back as a city is left defenseless and facing certain destruction.

“Captain, ready the fighters. I won’t let the people of Boz City burn under the Imperial boot. How long before we can get there?”

“At least two hours, Commander. We have to jump into the system and enter the atmosphere. Sir, we may be able to take out some Tie Bombers, but if Tie Fighters show up, we will be sitting ducks.”

“I know, Captain. But we have to try it! Send the fighters.”

Advancement

Alright, before we get stuck into the story, let’s look at improving Keer’s assets. Keer sure did blow up a lot of stuff in Episode One. I think he will now be more well-known as a person with experience in explosives. I have two XP to use from completing one box of my Quest Legacy track. I’ll use them to upgrade my Demolitionist asset with the second ability.

‘When you make a move to craft, modify, or disarm an explosive device, or if you threaten or provoke by arming an explosive device, add +1 and take +1 momentum on a hit.’

I like the image of Keer pulling out a thermal detonator and threatening the room, like Leia in Jabba’s palace. So cool! Ok, let’s start playing!

---

The Tie Bombers scream overhead, indiscriminately bombing Boz City. The bastards! Too cowardly to take the city with boots, they resort to bombing without reason. Thousands will be killed, including us! I didn’t risk my life getting Zhar out of an Imperial prison just to watch us all get blown to pieces.

The bombing of Boz City.

‘Zhar! Verse! Get everyone together. Do you have a basement or somewhere to hide?’ I roar above the sound of exploding bombs, collapsing buildings, and screams.

Does Verse have a place to stash everyone? I’m saying it’s 50-50. 48, just barely a no.

“Damn it, Keer! This is a bar, not a bomb shelter. We are going to have to get out of here before one of those bombs,” Verse shouts at me.

“Ok, ok, Verse. Follow me. I’ll get us somewhere safer; I swear it.”

Swear an Iron Vow +1 with Heart, +1 with connection (to Verse)

Challenge 7,2 Vs 6+1+1=8, Strong hit. +2 momentum (5)

I know Boz City is built into the walls of a canyon, which has caves throughout. If we can get to those caves, we can disappear into them or hunker down. We’ll have to get through this city first, dodging bombs, collapsing buildings, and any Imps left hanging around. Sounds easy.

“R5!” I yell. “Pull up a map of the city, and let’s see if we can find any routes that get us to a cave as soon as possible.”

Challenge 10,4 Vs 4+3=7, Weak hit, +1 on my next move

Mark Progress = 2 boxes

R5 whistles something clearly sarcastic and displays a map of Boz City. The nearest cave system would be a brisk walk from the bar. But in this current environment, anything could be waiting for us out there. My thoughts are cut short by a bomb that hits way too close, lifting us off our feet and throwing us around the room.

We have to get out of here, and now.

“Alright, everyone who can walk, help those who can’t. Let’s get out of here now before this karking building collapses!”

I lead the way out of the pub and into the carnage of Boz City. I wish I could say this wasn’t the first city I saw the Imps raze, but it is probably my 5th or 6th. Those animals have no morals and feel nothing when they kill.

Nothing to do here but sprint as fast as I can through the street to the next set of buildings.

Challenge 4,4 Vs 4+1+1=6, Strong Hit with a match! +1 momentum (6)

Mark Progress = 4 Boxes

Let’s see what opportunity I get from this match! I roll on Descriptor and Focus table and get Blocked Obstacle. Because it’s an opportunity, I will interpret that in a positive way.

Explosions happen all around me, but nothing falls close to me, Verse’s crew, or Zhar. We make it to the next set of buildings and huddle up. Verse checks to make sure everyone made it and is alright. Zhar is standing next to me panting away. R5 is there also. That damn droid can’t die.

I peek outside and see a clear street. No rubble, no collapsed buildings. It looks to be a straight shot to the caves. What luck!

“Alright, everyone listen up!” I yell over the explosions. “We got a clear shot to the caves. If we run, and run hard, we can get there in one more sprint. Then we are home free. Are you all ready? Let’s go!”

Face Danger +1 with Edge

Challenge 8,6 Vs 6+1=7, Weak hit, + 2 Momentum (4)

Mark Progress = 6 Boxes

Rushing across the street takes way longer than I would like. Several of the wounded can’t move at speed and require us to carry them. Bombs explode around us, but not in our immediate area, thank Fark.

We hole up in another wrecked building, and R5 pulls up the map again. The route says we are just around the corner from the caves. Perfect. Just one more quick dash, and everyone makes it to safety.

Verse and I organize everyone again. The wounded are looking pretty rough, but they should be able to make it the final 30 meters or so.

I lead the way and run right into an Imp patrol. Fark! They see me. We are only a couple of meters away. They look beat up, maybe from the riot or maybe from the bombing. Typical Imps, don’t even tell their troops they are about to bomb the city.

“Alright, everyone. Let’s just stay calm. I’m just trying to get these people to safety. I don’t want a fight.” I hope their condition and my non-threatening manner will convince them to let us pass. I see they have several wounded also and that they are trying to move them, probably to the Imp base.

Compel +1 with Heart

Challenge 9,2 Vs 2+1=3

Weak hit, They make a counteroffer or demand

I think they want help for their wounded. See if Keer can help them out.

“I’m Imperial Lieutenant Porro Melne. I have several wounded here. I’ll let you pass without a fight, but I need help for them. Do you have supplies or something? I need to stabilize them!”

I check my pack. Maybe I have something I jammed deep down in there that can help them out.

Check Your Gear +4 with Supply

Challenge 10,9 Vs 6+4=10

Weak hit, Reduce supply -1 (3), Mark Progress = 6 Boxes

I pull out a roll of bacta strips. Damn valuable these things are. I’d hate to see them go, but I don’t want to get into a firefight with Imps when we are so exposed and with wounded around.

“Here you go, Lieutenant. Good luck getting your people out of here.” I lean in a little closer so only he can hear, “You know they started bombing this city knowing you were here, right? Maybe consider which side is the right one, you know?”

The Lieutenant nods at me, and several of his troopers start applying the bacta strips. They let us pass, and we make it to the entrance to the caves. Thank Farks!

Fulfill Your Vow - 8 Progress

Get Verse and her people to safety - Dangerous Vow

Challenge 1,6 Vs 8 Progress, Strong hit! 2 Quest Track ticks

We get everyone into the cave. Looks like we all made it. Verse gives me a nod as she moves her people deeper into the cave. We still feel the bombs exploding, and then we hear what sounds like laser cannon fire. I risk a peek out of the entrance of the cave. Well, Fark! Rebellion fighters! Not a lot, but a few, and they are causing havoc amongst the Tie Bombers. Good on them.

The crew is temporarily safe in the caverns.

Zhar comes and stands next to me, “Fark those Imps. I hope they all burn. So Keer, tell me more about this Dreadnought.”
