Rebel Sworn: Chapter 7, Part 2, Take Off - A Star Wars Inspired Starforged Solo Campaign

Welcome readers to the end of the Episode II for Rebel Sworn. Keer has made it to the Dreadnought but will he and Zhar be able to get it to fly? We will see.

Haven't read Rebel Sworn yet? Check it out from the start here.

Now let's play.

---

Zhar is standing just inside the entrance to the Dreadnought. "Keer! You're alive. I told that silly droid of yours that you had surely died. Well, to be honest, you look like death. Glad to see you in one beat-up piece. Now, when you were napping, I had a look around and found a good place for us to hide. Eventually, those Imps will stop being distracted and will come back to this ship to work. C’mon, hurry up!"

I groan as I follow Zhar deeper into the ship. Everything hurts, and I'm not sure how I'm going to be good to anyone here. After a few twists and turns, we find a maintenance hatch. "These Separatist ships were so quickly built. Lots of odd places to hide in that the Imps won't know about. Now what are our next steps?"

I fall to the ground. "R5, hack into the system. See how far the Imps have gotten to getting this thing flying again."

Without complaint, which is new for R5, the droid goes to the nearest terminal and hacks into the port.

+1 progress - 4 boxes

Finally, some good rolls for my beat-up character. The momentum will help, and so will the progress. I'm not sure how much more abuse Keer can take before he drops dead.

R5 starts beeping and blooping aggressively. "Those stupid Imps!" Zhar shouts. "They brought in fuel for this Karking beast of a ship but have missed the reason why this sky whale can't power up. It's simple, Keer! If we can get to engineering, I can reboot the Tactical bot and get this thing flying again."

"The tactical bot? Zhar, that is insane. Those things are programmed to kill anything that isn't a Separatist."

"No, no, Keer. Well, actually, yes. But don't worry about it. We will reprogram it when we boot it up. Easy done. R5 can do it all. Now we just need to get to Engineering. Hopefully, in one piece."

I stand up gingerly and slowly. "OK, let's get moving."

The Dreadnought is strangely silent. We can see signs of Imps but no Imps themselves. I inch through the ship, following Zhar as they lead the way to the Engineering. I'm conscious that just because we can't see Imps doesn't mean they aren't around.

The whole ship is eerily quiet, with not an Imp in sight. We stalk quietly through the corridors, and Zhar leads us straight to the engineering bay.

Alright, I think it's highly likely that the doors are locked or secured in some way. Let's check it out. 90 or below and the doors are locked or barred. A 42, that is a yes. So will it be locked or barred? I'll say 50-50. A 95, it's barred shut.

We approach the Engineering door. "Keer, this door isn't just locked, it's secured from the inside. I can't hack this open. It might take more force than that."

"I get it Zhar. Time to blow things up. But an explosion like that will bring every Imp on this ship and outside here."

Zhar smiles. "I know, you'll have to hold them off until I can boot the tac-droid."

My back screams that this is a bad idea. Oh well, what other options do we have? I start getting ready with my detonators.

I wire up the door for demolition and nod to Zhar. This is it. We hide behind the corner, and I press the button. In the cramped ship corridors, the pressure blast from the explosion knocks us over. Immediately alarms start blaring.

You can achieve almost anything with the right usage of explosions.

"Zhar, get up and get in there. Imps will be pouring into this ship now."

Zhar dusts themselves off and runs into Engineering. R5 is on their tail. I follow, a bit slower of course. Knowing Imps troops will be here soon, I pull out a few detonators and place them in the corridor.

Challenge 2,3 Vs 2+3+1=6, Strong hit +2 Momentum (9 max), +1 on next move

That's going to be a nasty surprise for the Imps once they get here. I laugh a little, but it hurts my side. I go deeper into engineering to see how Zhar and R5 are doing.

"Fark it! Fark it all!" I heard Zhar yelling. I think I found them.

"Oh good, Keer, these farking Imps farked it all up!"

"OK Zhar, calm down. What happened?"

Zhar proceeds to explain at great length things about fusion cores, hyperdrives, and other technical things. I don't pretend to understand but stop them after a few minutes. "OK Zhar, how can we fix it?"

"Well, R5 is going to have to head into the core and make repairs. I can't go. Radiation would fry me in minutes. But R5 can do it."

R5 deeps and bloops. It's willing enough, I guess. "OK, send R5 in. And hurry. The Imps will be here soon."

Zhar opens the hatch to the Core, and R5 hurries inside. I wish the little droid good luck. I don't know what I'd do without it. I try to be optimistic, but our current situation proves to me that optimism isn't valid on Boz Pity.

I hear a whistle over my Comms. Zhar says, "Oh good. R5 has reached the core. OK, R5, do the repairs we discussed. Shouldn't be too complicated."

The little droid whistles and beeps excitedly. It must have found the place to repair. I find myself actually whispering thanks to the Force. I don't believe it, or at least didn't think I did. R5 really pulled through for us.

Now with the core repaired, we have 7 progress on the quest. We could risk it to finish the vow track? I say, let's go for it!

"Keer! I found the tactical droid. We can get it spooled up from here and then control the ship. Let's go for it. Let's fire it up."

It's a risk. But it's only a matter of time before the Imps figure out the explosion outside wasn't an accident, and they come back to the Dreadnought in force.

"OK, Zhar. Punch it!"

Fulfill your Vow - 7 Progress

Challenge 10,5 vs Progress 7, Weak Hit.

Legacy Track - 4 Ticks

Decisions to be made! I'll take the full reward of 4 ticks, but I have to swear another vow. That means this quest isn't quite over. Oh dear…

I feel engines fire up. Lights turn on. Screens come to life. The ship starts rumbling, and before I know it, it's lifting off. Zhar, R5, and I run to the closest viewing port and see the red landscape of Boz Pity slowly shrink under us.

"Zhar! You did it! Thank Kark. Or the Force or whatever!"

Zhar laughs, "You can thank me, Keer."

Suddenly an alarm blares. "Kark! We should have guessed the Imps wouldn't let us go without a fight. Incoming fighters! About a dozen Ties. They may be small, but if they target our engines, we will drop like a stone. Get to the turrets, Keer, or we are pantha doo doo."

Swear and Ironvow +1 with Heart, +1 to Zhar

Challenge 5,7 Vs 2+1+1=4, Miss. Envision a significant obstacle

I sprint as fast as my broken body can to the gun turrets.

Alright, we will leave it there for now. We will have to wait for the next chapter to see how it all goes for Keer and Zhar!

---

Well, what an ending! I hate to leave it on a cliffhanger (that's a lie, I love to leave it on a cliffhanger).

It will probably be a while before I get back to Keer and Rebel Sworn but let me know how you've liked it so far!
